Premessa

Vengono qui esaminate le strabilianti scoperte di uno scienziato giapponese che, fotografando i cristalli di acqua congelata, ha dimostrato che essa registra e ricorda le nostre parole ed i nostri sentimenti.

E siccome siamo composti di acqua al 70% si può comprendere come ciò che diciamo, pensiamo e facciamo, possa influire sulla nostra salute e sulla nostra vita.

Un po' di storia

L'acqua copre i due terzi del pianeta Terra e, allo stesso modo, costituisce anche i due terzi di un essere umano adulto, che passa dal 99% d'acqua posseduta come embrione al 50% di acqua come anziano. Sotto questa soglia, muore.

Ma l'acqua non è speciale solo per questo: essa è anche l'unico liquido presente sulla Terra che, quando ghiaccia, invece di contrarsi si espande. L'acqua, insomma, risponde a leggi particolari che ne fanno un elemento del tutto singolare sul quale molti studiosi hanno scritto, indagato e ipotizzato. Uno di essi è Masaru Emoto, uno scienziato e ricercatore giapponese, or mai noto in tutto il mondo per le splendide fotografie realizzate sui cristalli dell'acqua ghiacciata.

Nato nel 1943 in Giappone, Masaru Emoto ha cominciato a studiare l'acqua intorno al 1984, dopo aver incontrato in USA il biochimico Lee H. Lorenzen, inventore dell'analizzatore di risonanza magnetica dell'acqua a "microcluster water" (un'acqua energetizzata con effetti terapeutici).

Alla fine degli anni Ottanta, lo scienziato giapponese è riuscito a mettere a punto una tecnica per esaminare al microscopio e fotografare i cristalli che si formano durante il congelamento di diversi tipi d'acqua: l'acqua di rubinetto che scorre nelle tubature di tutto il mondo; l'acqua delle sorgenti; i laghi; le paludi; i ghiacciai; l'acqua sbarrata dalle dighe; l'acqua inquinata e via dicendo.

Masaru Emoto racconta così come ebbero inizio le ricerche che lo hanno reso celebre in tutto il mondo. Dapprima, prese a nolo un microscopio di grande precisione e congelò l'acqua in un frigorifero qualunque, ma quando si provò a fotografare l'acqua ghiacciata mettendola a temperatura ambiente, i cristalli si sciolsero subito. Emoto e i suoi collaboratori, allora, acquistarono un grande frigorifero per gli esperimenti che consentì loro di osservare i cristalli d'acqua a una temperatura costante di - 5° C.

L'esperimento viene condotto in questo modo: una goccia di ogni tipo di acqua da analizzare viene riposta in una coppa e poi congelata per circa tre ore a una temperatura di - 20° C. In ogni coppa si forma così un blocchetto di ghiaccio che la tensione superficiale rende perfettamente sferico. Poi, i singoli blocchetti vengono illuminati dall'alto e osservati al microscopio. A quel punto, è possibile vedere il cristallo. C'è acqua con cristalli simili tra loro, acqua che non ne ha affatto e acqua formata da cristalli danneggia ti.

Dopo aver messo a punto la sua tecnica di refrigerazione, cominciò ad esaminare e fotografare diversi tipi di acqua, come l'acqua dell'acquedotto di diverse città del mondo, e quella proveniente da sorgenti, laghi, paludi, ghiacciai.

Emoto, dunque, scoprì che le acque che scorrevano nelle tubature cittadine dove veniva rilasciato cloro per disinfettarle e le acque dei fiumi a valle dove venivano convogliate gli scarichi riuscivano a produrre solo cristalli danneggiati, mentre l'acqua che veniva trattata secondo principi naturali, l'acqua di sorgenti, laghi e ghiacciai ne aveva di bellissimi.

Lo scienziato nipponico, un giorno, volle mettere a confronto queste due realtà, fotografando prima l'acqua di fonte del lago Chuzenji e poi l'acqua utilizzata da un hotel che si trova sulle rive del lago stesso ma che, su indicazione dell'amministrazione cittadina, l'aveva disinfettata con il cloro.

Acqua dunque, apparentemente uguale, produceva nel primo caso un cristallo completo, mentre nel secondo caso uno sfaldato e decomposto. "Sarebbe importante - spiega Emoto nelle sue ricerche - confrontare i metodi di purificazione dell'acqua e imparare qualcosa dai risultati".

Non solo: seguendo anche l'acqua lungo corsi di fiumi poi sbarrati da dighe costruite dall'uomo, Emoto e la sua équipe hanno scoperto che i cristalli, prima bellissimi, si spezzano, si confondono e si perdono quando vengono bloccati in un lago artificiale da dove non hanno scampo.

Quindi gli venne l'idea di esporre l'acqua alle vibrazioni della musica, delle parole (pronunciate o anche soltanto scritte sulle bottiglie dei campioni d'acqua) e persino dei pensieri.

I risultati dei suoi esperimenti mostrano che i cristalli d'acqua, così trattata, cambiano struttura a seconda dei messaggi che ricevono. Si è perciò potuto constatare l'effetto sui cristalli dell'acqua quando viene esposta a parole scritte, a musica, preghiere, parole pronunciate, acqua di montagna, acqua inquinata, ecc.

L'acqua trattata con parole "positive" forma dei cristalli bellissimi, simili a quelli della neve; l'acqua trattata con parole "negative" invece, reagisce, creando forme amorfe e prive di armonia geometrica. Le immagini dei cristalli sono talmente impressionanti che Masaru Emoto ha deciso di renderle disponibili a tutte le persone interessate, attraverso la pubblicazione di numerosi libri e attraverso conferenze che tiene in tutto il mondo.

Un'idea che ha dell'incredibile

La svolta nei suoi studi giunse, però, quando un suo collaboratore ebbe un'idea che a prima vista ha dell'incredibile, ma che contribuì a far fare ulteriori scoperte nel settore: perché non suonare musica all'acqua e poi studiarne i cristalli formati? In fin dei conti l'efficacia della musicoterapica è risaputa: perché non verificare se la musica poteva in qualche modo in fluire anche sulla formazione dei cristalli.

Emoto e il suo staff, spinti da questa nuova sfida, decisero di riempire delle bottiglie d'acqua - questa volta distillata - e di porle tra due altoparlanti. I risultati furono fantastici: la Pastorale di Beethoven, la Sinfonia n. 40 di Mozart, Les adieux di Chopin, solo per citarne alcuni, hanno prodotto dei cristalli meravigliosi che variano a seconda della musica e sembrano rappresentarne anche le caratteristiche foniche. Al contrario, musiche moderne come quella degli Heavy Metal hanno prodotto cristalli spaccati in pezzi infiniti.

Ma le sorprese non erano ancora terminate: a un certo punto, lo scienziato giapponese ebbe l'idea di "far leggere" le parole all'acqua. In quale modo?

Dopo aver riempito le solite bottiglie, incollò dei foglietti con la parte scritta rivolta verso l'acqua. La differenza tra i cristalli che si formavano nella bottiglia con la parola 'grazie' e quelli con la parola 'sciocco' è ben chiara: cristalli perfetti a sei angoli nel primo caso, cristalli scissi in mille pezzi nel secondo. E così pure con frasi di incitamento quali "Forza", "Sei bravo e ce la puoi fare" e parole come 'Amore' che andavano a formare cristalli completi.

Le frasi come "Stupido", "Non vali nulla", "Ti odio" o "Ti ucciderò" producevano, invece, solo una massa informe di molecole. In pratica, l'acqua trattata con parole "positive" produceva cristalli incantevoli, simili a quelli della neve mentre quella trattata con parole "cattive" reagiva in modo "negativo", creando forme schizzate.

Questo mutamento di struttura rappresenta un messaggio vero e proprio inviato all'uomo, che ha così la possibilità di esplorare orizzonti sconfinati che lo riconducono a un Tutto cui appartiene ed al quale deve rispetto.

Le ricerche di Masaru Emoto, come da sua stessa ammissione, portano a una riflessione di estrema importanza: se l'essere umano è formato per il 70% dall'acqua, significa che quanto egli pensa, dice modifica l'acqua del suo corpo, producendo in essa cristalli che corrispondono ai suoi sentimenti.

In Giappone, si crede che le parole abbiano un'anima e che solo pronunciandole si attivi il potere di trasformare il mondo. I cristalli dell'acqua dimostrano che ciò che si pensa e ciò che si dice, lascia una traccia, sia nel bene che nel male. Questa è una cosa che gli antichi conoscevano bene e che si riassume in poche parole, note in tutto il mondo: "Mens sana in corpore sano".

E' uscito un nuovo volume di Masaru Emoto

E' uscito il suo secondo libro Messaggi dall'Acqua Volume II. In questo lavoro lei ha attribuito particolare attenzione all'aspetto delle relazioni. Le immagini dei cristalli riflettono il risultato delle esperienze interpersonali all'interno di nuclei quali la famiglia, la scuola e i gruppi di preghiera.

Sì, in questo libro mi sono dedicato in modo particolare all'esperienza della preghiera e all'energia che la preghiera produce. L'esperienza della preghiera ha in sé le vibrazioni del sentimento e dell'emozione che accompagnano la parola. La risultante è una vibrazione sottile in grado di intervenire sulla materia modificandola. A questo proposito voglio ricordare l'incantesimo provocato dall'energia della preghiera sulle sponde del lago Biwa, in Giappone.

Il 25 luglio 1999, alle ore 4.30 del mattino, 350 persone si sono riunite di fronte al lago inquinato per offrire le proprie preghiere all'acqua. L'intenzione delle persone che pregavano insieme era sintonizzata su pensieri di armonia e gratitudine. Il risultato è stato sbalorditivo! L'acqua prelevata dal lago inquinato prima di essere sottoposta alla vibrazione della preghiera non ha prodotto alcun cristallo, mentre l'acqua prelevata dopo la preghiera è stata in grado di produrre bellissimi cristalli per oltre sei mesi, fino a gennaio del 2000.

E' stata l'acqua stessa a guidare la mia ricerca verso questa direzione. L'intuizione, nel mio lavoro, è essenziale... mi capita di svegliarmi nel cuore della notte con l'intuizione di ciò che devo trasmettere.

Come aiutare il nostro pianeta

La Terra sta andando incontro ad un processo di deterioramento pressoché inevitabile. A questo proposito Emoto si è fatto promotore di un progetto che invita le persone ad inviare sentimenti di amore e gratitudine nei con fronti dell'acqua che scorre in zone del mondo particolarmente a rischio. Questa sua proposta porta il nome di Progetto di Amore e Gratitudine all'Acqua...

Siccome la coscienza di ognuno di noi può modificare il mondo circostante, possiamo, mediante la nostra intenzione, inviare una vibrazione d'amore e gratitudine ai corsi d'acqua che attraversano i paesi devastati dai conflitti e dalle guerre. Un esempio, immaginiamo di inviare la nostra preghiera, il nostro pensiero d'amore al fiume Giordano sulle cui sponde vivono israeliani e palestinesi. L'acqua, informata da questa altissima vibrazione di luce, armonizzerà la terra e coloro che la berranno.

Naturalmente sono molte le regioni nel mondo dove dimorano guerra e povertà, come India, Pakistan, Irak e alcuni stati africani. Per sostenere e divulgare questo progetto Emoto ha creato un sito, www.thank-water.net, che sta avendo un grande seguito. Attraverso questo gesto di preghiera all'acqua è come se operassimo una trasfusione al pianeta sostenendolo con la vibrazione più potente, quella dell'amore.

LA POTENZA DEL PENSIERO

Che cosa fate con i vostri pensieri? (1)

Nel campo delle azioni, si può dire che la maggior parte della gente è piuttosto brava e ragionevole. Applica le regole, rispetta le leggi della società. Interiormente, invece, è un'altra cosa: si permette di tutto! Chiedete agli esseri umani che cosa fanno con i loro pensieri, con i loro sentimenti, con la loro immaginazione! Creano delle nuvole, dei fumi, ed anche delle creature mostruose. E quando, poi, si sentono stanchi, angosciati, persi, malati, non ne comprendono nemmeno il perché!

Se si volessero fermare un attimo a riflettere, le persone in buona fede sarebbero obbligate a riconoscere che in un certo momento dalla loro vita

hanno avuto dei pensieri e dei sentimenti veramente malsani, distruttivi, criminali. Ebbene, tali pensieri e sentimenti non rimangono senza effetto. Voi credete che solo i gesti, le parole, le azioni abbiano veramente delle conseguenze e che ciò che accade nel mondo interiore può restare senza effetto?... No, vi sbagliate. Tutto ciò che mettete in moto nel vostro mondo interiore produce dei risultati; certo occorre più tempo per vederli appari re, ma infallibilmente un giorno appariranno.

Evitate di preoccuparvi di sapere se i vostri pensieri e sentimenti si realizzeranno: prima o poi si realizzeranno di sicuro. Preoccupatevi solo di capi re se tali pensieri e desideri sono buoni, perché se fossero cattivi, il giorno in cui si realizzeranno, avrete di che lamentarvi, allora sarà troppo tardi.

Come usate le vostre parole? (2)

Dunque attenzione, perché, anche se veramente non pensate alle parole negative che pronunciate, c'è rischio che certe entità malefiche si servano dell'energia di tali frasi per realizzarle; non servirà accusarle, era compito vostro evitare di fornir loro le condizioni per fare il male. In vari paesi, le persone hanno l'abitudine di mandare delle maledizioni; per un nonnulla, maledicono i genitori, i figli, i vicini, gli amici... E' una pessima abitudine, perché anche se le parole non provocano disgrazie, creano le condizioni perché succedano. Dunque bisogna stare molto attenti.

I danni provocati dai pensieri incontrollati(3)

Fermatevi un momento a pensare ai danni che può provocare il pensiero quando non è controllato: guai a se stessi e agli altri, proporzionati alla potenza con cui furono emanati. Si pensi al vuoto interiore di quelli che si abbandonano alle fantasticherie inutili. Essi fuggono dalla realtà in cui vivono, ma quando ricadono necessariamente in essa, si ritrovano come estranei e in contrasto col tutto.

Peggio avviene agli sciagurati che se ne servono per danneggiare gli altri deliberatamente pensando di essi cose negative. Se sapessero il male che fanno a se stessi, poiché l'energia di un pensiero ritorna al punto da cui è partita, si guarderebbero bene dal farlo. Ma, purtroppo, sono ignoranti di questo fatto e pensano che con il pensiero sia impossibile fare del male a qualcuno e specialmente a se stessi.

Quando l'uomo pensa cose non buone nei confronti di altri, anche se a parer suo se lo meritano, si carica di un insieme di energie negative che dovrà, poi, amaramente esaurire.

Considerata la grande pericolosità dei pensieri negativi, bisognerebbe che ognuno di noi si preoccupasse di controllare il proprio pensiero come si fa per tutte le cose dannose. I pensieri, infatti, producono effetti anche all'in saputa di chi li formula che poi si lamenta per i danni che essi gli arrecano.

L'odio, la vendetta e l'invidia, sono dei veleni terribili che uccidono ciò che è buono in noi, peggio dell'arsenico che uccide il nostro corpo.

Chi conserva per anni pensieri di odio, di invidia, di vendetta verso altri, li mette in condizione di essere ostili nei confronti di stesso. Ciò che rende l'esistenza umana pesante e travagliata è l'uso errato del pensiero che porta a subire conseguenze dolorose. Nessuno può conservare a lungo pensieri e sentimenti negativi senza nuocere a se stesso.

Da dove vengono i nostri mali (4)

La maggior parte dei mali che affligge gli uomini sono creati dalla mente. Noi pensiamo che i nostri problemi dipendano da altri, mentre siamo noi stessi gli autori dei nostri mali, sia per le azioni compiute che ritornano a noi, che per quelle create con la nostra immaginazione che si sono poi realizzate. Su quest'ultimo punto, si vuol insistere per far comprendere che nessun male può essere arrecato arbitrariamente, mentre per la maggior parte dei casi è la mente che li ha generati.

Chi è convinto di star male, sta male. Se sgombrasse la mente dalla convinzione di star male si accorgerebbe di star bene.

Dobbiamo sorvegliare i nostri pensieri (5)

Dobbiamo sorvegliare che non entrino in noi pensieri nocivi e, se entrano per nostra inavvertenza, non permettere loro la sosta di un istante in più. Non appena ci rendiamo conto che stiamo pensando qualcosa di cattivo e distruttivo dobbiamo eliminarlo senza esitazione.

Credete fermamente al bene, che vincerà sempre come la luce sull'ombra. Non vi create nella mente mali immaginari, e neppure pensieri negativi.

I pensieri che vanno accolti e quelli che vanno respinti (6)

I pensieri che sono nella nostra mente, a volte sono pensieri vagabondi; sono pensieri di altre persone che sono entrati nella nostra mente perché hanno trovato la porta aperta.

Chiudete le porte agli ospiti indesiderabili. Se qualcuno entrasse furtiva mente, mettetelo subito alla porta, ma senza violenza. Montate la guardia sulla soglia della vostra mente: non lasciate entrare nessun nemico della vostra serenità e del vostro progresso. Cacciateli senza pietà e sarete meravigliati del miglioramento totale che si produrrà nella vostra vita in poco tempo.

Non permettete a pensieri malevoli e distruttivi di entrare in voi. Tenete la vostra mente libera da tali veleni psichici che finirebbero fatalmente d'intossicare tutta la vostra vita. Siate pronti a difendervi da questi nemici della vostra salute psichica e morale.

Ciò che pensiamo dipende solo da noi (7)

Sei solo tu a controllare ciò che ti entra nella testa sotto forma di pensiero. Se non ci credi, rispondi a questa domanda: "Se non sei tu che controlli i tuoi pensieri, chi li controlla?". Tua moglie, o il tuo capoufficio, o tua madre?

Se sono costoro a controllare ciò che pensi, è meglio che li mandi a farsi curare, e chi si sentirà meglio all'istante sarai tu. Ma, in realtà, tu sai che le cose stanno diversamente. Tu e soltanto tu controlli il tuo apparato mentale (a meno di non essere sottoposto a lavaggio del cervello o di non trovarti in situazioni estreme di condizionamento e sperimentazione; ma non è questo il caso).

I tuoi pensieri ti appartengono, e sta esclusivamente in te tenerteli, cambiarli, comunicarli o contemplarli. Nessun altro può entrare nella tua mente e avere dei tuoi pensieri l'esperienza che ne hai tu. Chi li controlla sei tu, e del tuo ingegno puoi fare l'uso che vuoi.

C’è tanta necessità per l’uomo di risvegliarsi per essere consapevole delle proprie azioni e, allora, perché negare questa possibilità?

Siate fiduciosi che ognuno può fare dei cambiamenti perché finalmente può essere se stesso. Io sono l’Acqua, l’Acqua che può aiutarvi in tutto questo.

Mentre sentite questo suono, mentre io mi manifesto, sentite la gioia del mio suono, sentite la vitalità quando io sgorgo, sentite la bellezza di quando io scendo dentro di voi e vi disseto. Non solo vi disseto delle cose momentanee, io vi disseto di tutti quei dolori che hanno ferito la vostra anima. Il mio compito è di andare verso queste ferite, alleggerirle, accarezzarle e trasformarle insieme a voi.

Aiutatemi ad uscire, aiutatemi, aiutatemi, io voglio uscire, io voglio portare avanti il mio compito. Questa è la mia richiesta.

Io chiedo a tutti voi di farvi mezzi di distribuzione perché dovete trovare un modo che va oltre a tutto, ai pensieri, alle paure, alle istituzioni, a tutto quello che vi circonda e che vi stringe.

Se la passate con il vostro amore essa sarà portatrice di quell’Amore che solamente la Madre riesce a darvi perché essa vi comprende, vi accetta e vi ama. L’Amore Incondizionato indipendentemente da quello che siete.

Perché fate che io rimanga nella profondità della Terra? Io vi chiedo solamente di essere mezzi di congiunzione fra voi e gli altri affinché io possa manifestarmi.

Questo è il mio appello, questo è quanto desidero per aiutarvi ad essere più leggeri e più in amore verso di voi.

l’esperimento che ho fatto in laboratorio è consistito nel misurare la tensione superficiale dell’acqua dei due termos che voi mi avete lasciato. Le misure sono state condotte paragonando i dati ottenuti con quello di un campione di acqua bidistillata.

L’innalzamento della tensione superficiale penso possa favorire nell’organismo umano gli scambi dei nutrienti e l’eliminazione delle tossine a livello cellulare. Questo potrebbe avere come conseguenza l’aumento dell’energia delle cellule e quindi di tutto l’organismo. Si tenga presente che il corpo umano è costituito dal 70% di acqua, per cui, a mio parere, la salute di un uomo è strettamente connessa alla qualità dell’acqua di ogni organismo umano. Il fatto più singolare e unico è che questa variazione di un parametro chimico-fisico è avvenuta grazie ad una “informazione”che è stata data dall’acqua.

Ora in chimica è noto che si può ottenere una variazione della tensione superficiale aggiungendo e sciogliendo delle sostanze all’acqua, come per esempio dei saponi. Infatti grazie ai detergenti in genere si varia la tensione superficiale, e si consente così alla soluzione saponosa che ne deriva la possibilità di allontanare il sudiciume dai panni sporchi o dalla pelle, anche se in questo caso specifico si somma anche l’azione chimica delle molecole di tensioattivo sulle particelle di grasso di cui è intrisa la pelle o il panno.

Questa è una mia ipotesi, ma bisogna anche tener conto che come l’acqua Madre ha acquisito una “informazione” che ha provocato un innalzamento della tensione superficiale, così l’acqua del corpo può acquisire tutta una serie di informazioni “negative” dal mondo esterno (telefonini, antenne, sorgenti dei campi elettromagnetici,…) che sicuramente tolgono energia allo stesso organismo.

- è confermato che nell’arco delle ventiquattro ore arrivano tre tipi di energia: quella magnetica, quella elettrica e quella polarizzata?

- quando si beve l’acqua Madre perché ci si sente meglio? Forse perché ne traggono beneficio soprattutto la cellule del cervello?

Io comincerei con queste domande. Mi propongo a breve di verificare anche la variazione della tensione superficiale su campioni di acqua minerale che vengano sottoposti all’azione di campi magnetici dove ho già avuto variazioni di potenziale redox (potenziale di ossido riduzione).

Vi è però un problema, queste informazioni mancano di un filo conduttore, che le leghi e strutturi facendo in modo che siano accessibili a tutti e le domande suscitate trovino una risposta soddisfacente.

Quanto qui proposto è stato strutturato in modo da fornire un'idea generale con la possibilità di vari approfondimenti. Ci auguriamo che questa ricerca possa fornire quella conoscenza che permette di affrontare il futuro in modo fiducioso e sereno.

Prima della ricerca specifica sul futuro abbiamo pensato di proporre una visione dell'evoluzione dell'uomo e del suo destino, come viene proposta dalle varie Scuole di saggezza (Esoterismo, Rosacroce, Teosofia, ecc.). Per concluderla abbiamo pensato di utilizzare un'intervista a Ervin Laslo, uno dei primi rappresentanti nell’area della filosofia dei sistemi e della teoria generale dell’evoluzione.

Secondo Laszlo, noi siamo oggi conivolti in una delle più profonde, e certamente più veloci, trasformazioni della storia dell'umanità. Infatti quasi tutti gli aspetti e le attività della vita umana saranno sempre coivolti da meccanismi globali, da mercati globali, e informazioni che circolano in un sistema globale. Per poter continuare a vivere sarà perciò necessario conformarsi alle nuove condizioni con un diverso modo di agire e di pensare. Per leggere l'intervista

Inizieremo la ricerca sul futuro con una panoramica che comprende sia le profezie più conosciute, sia qualche informazione sulla situazione attuale. Infatti, anche se non fa' piacere ammetterlo, siamo in presenza di varie emergenze che parrebbero validare le profezie citate. Ciò che più lascia colpiti è il fatto che i media non parlano affatto di questi incombenti problemi, quando tutti li dovrebbero conoscere e prendersi la loro eventuale parte di responsabilità.

Procederemo dando informazioni sul 2012 e l'Ascensione globale o collettiva; sul come vengano ricevuti i messaggi correlati a tali eventi, e come sia necessario discernere tra le varie informazioni che ci vengono fornite. Per facilitare la comprensione di questi argomenti, piuttosto insoliti, dovremo precisare alcune cose che, purtroppo, hanno creato molti dubbi e confusioni. Tra esse la differenza tra religione e spiritualità, e come la mente non sia localizzata nel cervello... anzi, non ha affatto un suo luogo dove risiedere. Analizzeremo anche come la spiritualità faccia parte della natura dell'uomo, e come la sua conoscenza dovrebbe essere considerata cosa della massima importanza.

Daremo anche alcuni suggerimenti pratici sul come sopravvivere ad una eventuale catastrofe e forniremo un elenco di materiale per approfondimento. Il tutto nella speranza di agevolarti mentre affronterai questi processi di cambiamento a livello personale e planetario.

Introduction

The ‘Memory of Water’ is a journalistic expression, first used in the French newspaper Le Monde, after the publication in 1988 of Jacques Benveniste's famous paper in the international scientific journal Nature.¹ In this paper he claimed, with biological experimental data, that ‘homeopathic dilutions’ of substances (ie so much diluted as to not contain any molecules of the substance initially diluted in it) are able to induce biological effects typical of the substance initially dissolved in it. The ‘memory of water’ is a synthesis of a still unexplained phenomenon. Recent scientific publications suggest some possible ways to experimentally validate the reality of a whole new class of physicochemical new phenomena concerning liquid water.²

It seems that it really is possible to obtain physicochemical information depending on the recent or remote ‘history’ of a water sample (in Prigogine's terminology: breaking of the temporal symmetry), almost as in the better known case of magnetic materials (Prigogine would say: breaking of the spatial symmetry).³ The so-called memory of water, is connected to the capacity of this kind of solvent, a multi-variable complex system, to be influenced by very tiny perturbations, such as mechanical or electromagnetic actions, in such a way to move away from the initial equilibrium conditions, and this is increasingly established. The ‘memory of water’, in this sense, is comprehensible in the framework of the theory of Irreversible Processes Thermodynamics due to the Nobel Laureate for Chemistry (1977), Ilya Prigogine.³

In the last 10 years,^[4]^,^[5]^,^[6]^,^[7]^,^[8]^,^[9]^,^[10]^,^[11]^,^[12]^and ^[13] our research group has investigated this problem from the point of view of the physicochemical properties of water when prepared following the procedures of homeopathic medicine preparation: iterative dilutions (of specific solutes of medical interest) followed by agitation (succussion). This method leads inexorably to systems without any molecule different from the solvent, in our case pure water.

Can the ‘new water’ thus obtained really be ‘different’ from the initial one? Answering this question was our challenge. The answer, unexpected but strongly supported by the experimental results, is affirmative. In the meantime, other research groups came to similar conclusions using different experimental models and other methodologies.^[14]^,^[15]^,^[16]^,^[17]^,^[18]^,^[19]^and ^[20] We also want to note here Giorgio Piccardi, the founder of the Italian physical-chemistry, and his pioneering work concerning fluctuating chemical reactions.^[21]^,^[22]^,^[23]^and ^[24] A critical mass of experimental data ² necessary to evidence a new class of physicochemical phenomena of the water has now been reached.

Methods

The experimental methodologies used for our investigations were chosen as the most efficient among the many tested. We list them, without entering into the technical details, but emphasising that they are well-established physicochemical methodologies: flux calorimetry, conductometry, pHmetry and galvanic cell electrode potential. The greatest difficulty of the preliminary work, which lasted for many years, was the selection of the most enlightening experimental methodologies and the establishment of optimal experimental conditions. It was also difficult to evaluate the contribution of the impurities released by the glassware, to the measured experimental values. In fact, the problem of impurities has been the principal objection probably due to the strong prejudice against the possibility that the procedures followed might really change the physicochemical nature of water.

Figure 1, Figure 2 and Figure 3 show that the presence of impurities released by the glassware makes a significant contribution to the physicochemical state of the dilutions, but it is not relevant in comparison with the unexpected contribution (much higher than the range of the experimental errors) of the auto-organisation process of the water molecules-the water is far from the thermodynamic equilibrium (see below) –and this auto-organization is triggered by external perturbations (such as iterative dilution and succussion).

Figure 1, Figure 2 and Figure 3 show: (i) how the contributions of impurity were taken into account; (ii) the major contribution of ‘something’ different from any possible substance of chemical origin. This is a preliminary result but it cleared misunderstandings from the experimental methodologies and allowed us to proceed to collect further information and insights on the nature of the ‘homeopathic dilutions’.^[4]^,^[5]^,^[6]^,^[7]^,^[8]^,^[9]^,^[10]^,^[11]^,^[12]^and ^[13]

It is important to emphasise that, from the studies so far conducted, we cannot derive reproducible information concerning the influence of the different degrees of homeopathic dilution or the nature of the active principle (solute) on the measured physicochemical parameters. For this reason the experimental data reported in the figures are not given in terms of homeopathic dilutions or name of homeopathic medicine.

Ageing effects

A stimulating, and somewhat serendipitous, result very important in understanding the complex system under study, was that the physicochemical properties of the homeopathic solutions depend on time. The fact that the numerous experiences were performed over many years, naturally introduced the time parameter. The analysis of the experimental results vs the ‘arrow of time’ was of unexpected relevance,^[7]^,^[8]^,^[9]^and ^[10] and led to the idea that the system under observation (homeopathic solution) is a closed system (able to exchange only energy with the external environment), far from thermodynamic equilibrium, which allows structures with a local order higher than the water around them to emerge from chaos (‘dissipative structures’).

Figure 4 and Figure 5 show that, unexpectedly, the investigated physicochemical parameter increases with time. In other words, ageing modifies the physicochemical nature of homeopathic solutions.

What is the interpretation of this newly-observed characteristic of the homeopathic solutions? Are we simply observing a system seeking an energetic minimum and a new equilibrium in a slow kinetic process or this is something totally different? From the data in Figure 4 and Figure 5 we deduce that the temporal variations of the reported parameters are very slow, because it takes many months to evidence them unambiguously. However, this temporal behaviour does not match the idea of a simple slow kinetic. In fact, following the reductio ad absurdum, if there exists an energetic minimum towards which the system could move, it would be impossible that in the time that water has existed, it has not reached this hypothetical minimum. Moreover for both parameters (specific conductivity and heat of mixing with alkaline solutions) an increase with time is observed. The correlation between the specific conductivity and the heat of mixing with alkaline solutions, shown in Figure 6 is linear; in other words, these two parameters have the same underlying cause. This result provoked us to investigate the nature of the mechanism able to increase simultaneously the electrical conductivity and the heat of mixing with alkaline solutions, after repeated dilutions and succussions. The descriptive model proposed below, although simple, is in agreement with the experimentally observed ageing effect.

An explanation of the electrical conductivity increasing after the preparation procedure and ageing may be based on the so-called ‘hopping mechanism’, proposed by C.J.T. Grotthuss (1806)²⁵ to explain the much higher mobility (about 5 times) of H⁺ and OH⁻ ions (always present in liquid water) in comparison with other ions of comparable ionic radius. If H₂O molecular clusters are present in the solution, bonded by hydrogen bonds, the hydrogen ions H⁺ colliding them experience the ‘hopping’ phenomenon (Figure 7): the water molecules catch an H⁺ ion at one end of the cluster (for the sake of simplicity considered linear) and release instantaneously another H⁺ ion at the other end of the cluster. The drift velocity under an electrical potential gradient (a measure of the conductivity) is much increased in comparison with that of ions which do not encounter H₂O molecular clusters. The greater the number of the clusters and/or their length, the higher the conductivity value. The correlation between the electrical conductivity and the heat of mixing with alkaline solutions is a consequence of H₂O clusters breaking, due to the pH variation (see Figure 8).

The greater the number of the clusters and the larger their dimensions, the more is the measured thermal effect (Figure 8). These two experimental phenomena witness the same thing, both are sensitive to the number and/or dimensions of the clusters.

Let us return to the question: Are we measuring the presence of stable clusters seeking an energetic minimum? Or of unstable clusters consisting of dissipative auto-organised structures that are far from equilibrium and which remain or move away from equilibrium as a function of their ability to exchange energy with the external environment? We have already emphasised that the hypothesis of systems slowly evolving towards new equilibrium states is not compatible with our experimental findings. In particular, the hypothesis of systems evolving towards a minimum, even very slowly, contrasts with two new and very unexpected experimental phenomena characterising homeopathic dilutions:

There is a very strong variation of the parameter, about one order of magnitude, for the systems aged in very small volumes. This volume dependence cannot be explained in the frame of the classical physico-chemistry.

Phenomenon (b) is absolutely anomalous and inexplicable in the current paradigm,¹³ it appears to be in sharp contradiction with the classical concept that an intensive physical quantity cannot depend on the volume.

The temporal evolution of the excess specific conductivity of four sample systems is shown in Figure 11. The samples were obtained as follows: a highly diluted aqueous system was divided into three smaller volumes at a certain ‘age’. As the figure shows, the excess specific conductivity (χ^E) behaviour across time of small volume samples is very different from that of larger volume samples. The larger volume sample does not display relevant modifications across time, while each new system of smaller volume evolves in a different way, with an overall common behaviour characterised by the presence of a maximum. This means that the evolution over time depends on the initial state (in this case: large or small volume), in a sense the systems have a ‘memory’ of the initial conditions.

Figure 11. Excess specific conductivity, χ^E, vs sample age, t. In this experiment, a homeopathic dilution of Arnica Montana was left to age for about 250 days in a volume of about 200 ml. At this time point 18 ml were removed and divided into three different vessels of equal shape, containing 10, 5 and 3 ml. The four obtained samples, 182, 10, 5 and 3 ml, were studied vs time. Their temporal evolution was dramatically influenced by the perturbation induced by the repartition into smaller volumes. In particular the higher volume of 182 ml did not experience particular temporal variations, while in the case of the smaller volumes, a large temporal evolution was observed, depending strongly on the starting point.

Another example of such ‘memory’ of the system is apparent in the experimental data displayed in Figure 12, which shows the temporal evolution of the excess specific conductivity for samples made from the same mother tincture diluted in double distilled water without succussion, in different dilution ratios.¹² Again, the system's evolution in time is strongly conditioned by the initial conditions, with temporal variations characterised by very different maximum and slope values: past history influences the evolution of the ‘pure water’ system.

The temporal evolution of the various systems, perturbed only by the simple dilution without succussion, is strongly dependent by the new starting state. In particular, the system with dilution 1:1, r=0.5 (final volume is twice the initial one) exhibits an initial χ^E value markedly lower than the solution from which it was obtained, then, in about 45 days, exhibiting χ^E values much higher with respect to the ‘mother tincture’, reaching a sharp maximum. In this case, the applied perturbation, determines a strongly different starting point, as well as different temporal evolution.

The apparent contradiction between the concept of intensive quantity, such as specific conductivity and heat of mixing, and the experimental evidence of dependence on volume may be solved by considering that, within the solutions there are molecular clusters consisting of water molecules connected by hydrogen-bonds, in far from equilibrium conditions. They can remain in, or move away, from their unstable equilibrium state, dissipating energy derived from the external environment: they are ‘dissipative structures’ as described by Prigogine.³

The spontaneous formation of molecular clusters in water is foreseen by the Coherent Quantum Electrodynamics (Coherent QED) without introducing the existence of hydrogen-bonds. This theoretical formulation, due to G. Preparata, E. Del Giudice, et al predicts the physicochemical properties of the water,^[2]^,^[26]^,^[27]^,^[28]^and ^[29] much better than other theories. The introduction of the ‘arrow of time’ into this theoretical framework should yield very interesting results.

Conclusion

We propose a simplified empirical model that in principle seems able to explain the unexpected dependence of the physicochemical parameters on the volumes used.

A first hypothesis to explain the experimental results is to suppose that the solutions, after strong agitation (succussion), enter a far from equilibrium state, remaining there or getting even farther by dissipating energy in the form and amount necessary to stay in the far from equilibrium state. Then, assuming that radiant energy is exchanged, we can further suppose that, for a given flux of dissipated energy (W cm⁻²), the same number of dissipative structures would be formed, even if contained in different volumes. In this frame, on average, at any given age, small volumes of water will contain a higher ‘concentration’ of dissipative structures in comparison with larger volumes (Figure 13). The physicochemical parameters electrical conductivity and heat of mixing are in fact functions of the number, size and shape of the dissipative structures.

Assuming the same formation efficiency (and/or increase in size) for the dissipative structures in the two systems (small volume and large volume), with the same conditions of energetic flux, the number and/or size of the dissipative structures is almost the same in the two containers, at any given time (Figure 13b and c). So, when dissipative structures are numerically increasing, their concentration is much higher in the small volume than in the large one. Consequently, intensive quantities such as those measured, χ^E (μS cm⁻¹) and Q^E_mix (J kg⁻¹), sensitive to the structure concentration, will show a temporal behaviour dependent on the volume.

We conclude the following:

• the parameters whose values results ‘in excess’ (in general: variable with the history of the solvent in time) are correlated with the dynamics of supermolecular (mesoscopic) structures in the water solvent;
• the temporal evolution of the parameters is not connected to the tendency to seek an energetic minimum;
• an empirical interpretation, consistent with all current experimental data, is based on the presence of dissipative structures.

Succussion may be the trigger for the spontaneous formation of dissipative structures, that is the emergence of new dynamics. The temporal evolution may be connected to the variation of the number, dimension or the shape of the dissipative structures. It is well known, in Thermodynamics of Irreversible Processes, that the temporal evolution of the systems depends on the initial conditions and on the way the systems evolve.

Much new experimental data converge towards the validation of the statement that water, at least in the context of the procedure of the homeopathic medicine production, really has a ‘memory’. That is to say: the water solvent shows experimentally measurable physicochemical properties that vary as a function of the ‘lived path’, of the solute previously dissolved, and of elapsed time.

Without doubt liquid water has an extended and ‘ordered’ dynamics involving the whole body of the liquid. It is much more complex than the normal idea of a banal and chaotic cluster of ‘molecular balls’.

Με την έννοια της αντιβαρύτητας (antigravity) εννοούμε μία υποθετική δράση η οποία αντιτίθεται στην επίδραση της βαρύτητας. Η αντιβαρύτητα μέχρι σήμερα δεν αποτελεί επίσημο και αυστηρά καθορισμένο επιστημονικό όρο. Χρησιμοποιείται γενικά για να υποδηλώσει την κατανίκηση της βαρύτητας με τη βοήθεια κάποιων τεχνητών μεσων, αλλά επίσης χρησιμοποιείται και στην προσπάθεια εξήγησης της επιταχυνόμενης διαστολής του σύμπαντος. Μέχρι σήμερα η επιστήμη δεν έχει καταφέρει να αποδείξει την ύπαρξη μίας τέτοιας δύναμης, όπως επίσης και οι υφιστάμενοι φυσικοί νόμοι δεν προβλέπουν την ύπαρξή της (ούτε όμως την απαγορεύουν). Παρ΄όλα αυτά, υπάρχουν αρκετές θεωρίες, μελέτες και πειράματα που ασχολούνται με τους τρόπους με τους οποίους θα ήταν δυνατό να επιτευχθούν φαινόμενα αντιβαρύτητας, αλλά και να εξηγήσουν επίσης την επιταχυνόμενη διαστολή του σύμπαντος.
